Anushka Sharma alongside her modelling career, attended an acting class and began giving auditions for film. Anushka Sharma made her film debut in 2008 with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. The film was a collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan. As a screen test for her, she refused to perform an impromptu one and took a day to prepare herself. Later she was contracted for three films as part of the Yash Raj Films label. She played a younger wife to an actor of middle age (Shah Rukh Khan) in the film. The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. In 2010, Anushka Sharma starred in the film 'Badmash Company together with Shahid Kapoor Vir Das and Meiyang Chang. The movie received mixed reviews. Anushka was also seen alongside Ranveer in the film "Band Baaja Baaraat', in which she played a Punjabi middle-class girl who started her own business. The film was well-received and was a huge success. Anushka had completed the three film contract in partnership with Yash Raj Films.
