Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 also known professionally as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female to be signed for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The label debuted her first album titled Pho in the month of October 2016 where she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio release was May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 as she dropped her first mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. In 2014 Ari Lennox released her own single Bound along with her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. In the year 2015, she performed on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat it out on 21st July. The following year, her music was circulating all over the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some references for Rihanna. It was announced on the 8th of December she signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track she co-wrote with Cozz for the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II. The 21st of October, 2016, the EP Pho debuted. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017, in which she supported by EarthGang. She also appeared in 2018 on two songs alongside her labelmates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas in Icarus. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on the 5th of September. On November 9 she released two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. On the 13th of November, two brand new singles called The No One and pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single February 26, 2019, to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed along with Cole on The Creed II sound track on November 16. The track was launched with a music video uploaded to YouTube 20 February 2019 was watched more than three million times over the first 7 days. She was one of the support acts for 6LACK during the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
